Favorite Activity

My favorite Activity: HOCKEY

Why?
First, when i play hockey, either practice or a game, all the stress and problems in my life vanish. It's like playing hockey is an escape from the real world, with out leaving to long. for an hour or two of my day its my time just to do what i love to do and forget about everything else. It takes a lot of work and knowledge to accomplish becoming a better player each time i step on the ice (my motto). but when you do come off the ise knowing you learned or got better at somthing, you have a huge sense of pride. Almos like when in a game and you know you made a great play and you feel so excited independent. Then you get back on the bench and the players and coaches congradulate you. Not only you do you get physical excersize from playing but you get mental excersize too. more than 50% of the game is mental rather than physical (unlike basketball, it's neither [: ) Its also an oportunity to make new friends and spend time with them, it's a lot of fun when you not only look forward to play some hockey but to see all the girls. Im a competative person and hockey is the perfect way to express that. Working with a team to stop another team is a lot of pride but you get to share it with everyone else, you can talk about it and they understand. T
It's kind of hard to explain my last reason. It's that i simply just have heart to play and love it. The detication, desire, achievement, adrenaline, passion. I love it all. It can't really be explained any further than that. it's pretty explanitory its self. right?

i don't feel like making a post on iq and video games so i'll respond here.

"Several studies have shown that playing video games actually improves children's performance on IQ-type tests. One found that after playing a video game that required them to manipulate an object as if it were moving through 3-dimensional space, children performed better on a mental paper-folding task similar to ones found on the Wechsler and Stanford-Binet tests"

thats a quote from this site

Video games also help your iq because it gets your mind thinking. Some of the games today are extremely complicated with huge backstories and histories. Your brain adapts to processing and organzinging that information and that can be sublimated into helping you understand a textbook.

Yeah, first of I just want to add to subbu's response.

Video Games are hugely misconcepted as simply rotting your brains.

Guess what, I've actually obtained about 40-60% of my vocabulary from playing video games...

Not to mention, alot of 60-70 hour rpg's can actually teach you in a much more effective way than lecturing.

Now, on your post, I highly agree with how sports help you forget about life. For example, the other night during my basketball game, it wasn't until about 5 minutes after my game ended that I remembered about a social problem I've been having...

Sports and video games= all you need.

I don't know that I agree that sports and video games are all you need but...I do understand that it can be a cool experience when you have a team of people working together to achieve a common goal. Even better when that goal is achieved! How do you all hope to carry these forward into your adult life?
