Why Do We Learn Science?

First off with out sience we would't be able to do this blogging thing (and that would be just terrible :/....), but many other things wouldn't be in our daily lives either. Technology would have gone absolutly no where without science. We observe and do experiments to produce higher quality objects that make any humans day easier. But why do WE have to learn science? Not all of us want to be rocket scientists, marine biologists, or have a job that requires a lot of science knowledge. Although it is still important for us to learn and know science. An examle would be the scientifi method. We all use this everyday. When you wake up and ask yourself what your going to wear, your asking a question. Then your hypothesis is trying on an outfit. You experiment it by looking in the mirror and asking your mom, dad, ect how it looks. Your conclusion is if you wear it or not. If that was all we needed to know we would have stoped the science classes in 2nd grade. There's more. Science helps you understand the world and your surroundings. You might think well why would i ever need to know how atoms bond. Okay so maybe you don't absolutly have to know it to survive through life, but it gives you a better understanding of what things are made of and how they work. Another thing is if we didn't learn science chemicals would be unfamiliar substances to us. This could result in big damage..... I'll let your imagination go on that one.

Another thought of mine is if no one learned science our civilization would dwindle. The people that know how to run the machines to make things like cars and computers and the simplest things like toothrushes are not going to live forever. If people dont learn science not only will we not be able to expand the technology we wont be able to continue it.

Are you saying that science is necessary for the progress of the human race? Is progress necessary? Couldn't we all just go on living like the cavemen did? What was initial thing that provoked science into becoming a discipline? What caused that change?

Hey Tara I think I'm going help answer Mr. Voight's question. I believe that us as human being want to learn and have a better understanding of the the world and what its made of, so our pursuit to better our knowledge caused the cave men to start our evolution to what we are today, with the technological advancements that we have.
